So I ended up buying a old nuc to run pfsense on and another pc to make a proxmox cluster of 3 nodes. I figured it would just make things simpler for lan access between VMs as I was having issues a week or so ago and decided to just go for it. Then I won an auction for $13 for another computer so now I have 4 nodes and a dedicated pfsense box
So here is what it looks like now – or will look like once I’m finished with everything in the next few days
